Inclusive and empowering model

Cacao is growing in countries where rural populations face significant issues accessing decent economic opportunities and sometimes struggle to satisfy basic human needs such as healthcare or education. This is particularly true for women and youth and results in massive gender inequalities and rural exodus.

Thriving workers and communities

We are changing the status quo through:

  • Creation of long-term formal employment while ensuring that all employees can earn a living wage and benefit from good and safe working conditions.

  • Empowerment of women and youth through specialized trainings and by promoting equity.

  • Integration with smallholder farmers through technical assistance programs combined with joint centralized post-harvest processing and export logistics to increase their income.

  • Support of rural development through community-strengthening initiatives.

Andean Cacao has received financing from the Dutch Development Bank, FMO. If there is an issue of concern which pertains to impacts on the environment or your community which you or your community believe has not been adequately addressed or solved by Andean Cacao, and you believe is not in line with the environmental and social safeguards to which Andean Cacao adheres to (national environmental and social law, international conventions, and the IFC Performance standards, among other), you can raise a complaint about the actions or activity of Andean Cacao which have affected you or your community, which will be reviewed by FMO’s Independent Complaints Mechanism by the following link https://www.fmo.nl/independent-complaints-mechanism .
